Brain, nerves and muscles

Neurological conditions affect the brain, nerves and muscles and can sometimes pose unique challenges during pregnancy because of the physiological changes that take place when you become pregnant.

Most women who are known to have neurological conditions will have healthy pregnancies. However, it is important that you discuss with your medical team prior to or early in pregnancy to reduce the risk of complications.

Please find below resources that provide general advice, which you may find useful.

The list below are the commonest neurological conditions that women may present with either prior to or during pregnancy. If you have a neurological condition, that is not on this list, it would be great to hear from you to see how we can help.
